The teams listed below show the available spots for interested athletes to earn a spot on the Kansas State Team. Details on how each team will be made are listed in the Team Trials Event Packet.
The Junior Prep team is made up of 12-13 year old black belts (12-13 during the competition year) from the member clubs of the Kansas Taekwondo Association. A total of 10 athletes (5 male, 5 female) will make up this team. Potential members will be nominated by each member school. In the event that there are multiple athletes in a division there will be a fight-off to secure the spot on the team held during the State Team Trial. This junior team will be given an opportunity to attend camps with various coaches and have special training events. In 2010 this team will be given a free entry into the 2011 Kansas State Taekwondo Championships. These athletes will need to be from a Kansas Taekwondo Association member school in order to participate.

The Junior National Team is comprised of 10 athletes (5 male, 5 female) 14-17 years of age. This age guideline is set by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF). Each year this team will competes in the Kansas State National Qualifier. Members of the Junior State Team who qualify for nationals in any given year may also receive benefits and additional training opportunities to assist in attaining their goals at the next level. Additional competitive events may be scheduled depending on the high performance goals for each year. This team will be given a free entry into the 2011 Kansas State Taekwondo Championships.

The Senior State Team will be Kansas Taekwondo’s premier team. This team is made up of 8 athletes (4 male, 4 female). The goal of this team is to offer high level training partners, coaches and seminars to allow these competitors the chance to challenge for a USA Taekwondo Sr. National or U-24 Team Spot. Each year this team competes in the Kansas State National Qualifier. Members of the Senior State Team who qualify for nationals in any given year may also receive benefits and additional training opportunities to assist in attaining their goals. Additional events may be scheduled depending on the high performance goals for each year.
